It's been a lazy kinda day. And it looked like it wanted to rain earlier, so didn't want to really start anything. And the mosquitos and "lovebugs" are so bad, it's hard to be outdoors. But with the cloudy skies, I thought it would be a good time to walk around and take some photos. Wonderfully colourful posting, Cheryl. I especially liked the mums...and the Rooster Combs. Te Rooster Combs reming me of the Generalife Gardens of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain....argueably the most romantic towns in the world. Really good posting, miss.
I'm glad the weather and bugs let you take some photos! I've never seen a Cassia or an Esperanza, but I really like their cheery, yellow blooms. I think I have the same Hibiscus, but I have to bring mine inside for the winter. Beautiful photos
Thanks Frank. I really need to thin those "tea pots" out. And repaint hat old burner. Or.. maybe I should just leave them alone since they are doing so well? Thank Sjoerd. I got the Rooster Combs from one my aunts and had them planted in containers. And for some reason last year, I didn't keep any of the seeds. Good thing I had shared some with my brother & his wife. They were able to bring be back some seeds. Now, I'll make to keep these going. Thanks Netty. Hubby's sister gave me a tiny start to the Cassia a couple of years ago. She called it "Yellow Bird". It took me a while to finally get it ID'd. And the Esperanza is really neat too... like a trumpet vine... except it isn't a vine. The bees love them both. And I whole-heartedly agree with you about the cheery yellow blooms. This posting almost became nothing but yellow blooms... but.. it's just not fair to discriminate. Those Luna Hibiscus are new to me this year. They are supposed to be Hardy for my area. Time will tell. But, just in case, I do have some seeds stored. Thank you Barb. I always feel guilty about being lazy... but honestly... I was busy all day doing something. Maybe I shouldn't have called it a lazy day... just an EASY day.
Hi Cheryl,..glad you had an "Easy Day",..beautiful bloom on that Pride of Barbados,..and the Esperanza,..glad you posted a close up of the Cassia its impressive,..your Succulents are looking good,..which reminds me i have a job to do planting mine together,..nice combination of colours you captured on your Easy Day
"Easy day".....yeah, I like that much better than lazy day! I don't ever really have lazy days, even when I'm determined to relax I'm still doing things, just on my timeframe, at my speed.....which really does make it an easy day! I love those succulents in their little tea pots! What a great idea. The whole combination...the pots, the burner, the clay, the wrought iron behind everything, is all very appealing visually. I personally wouldn't change a thing!
I love all your succulents and the cassia is beautiful with its yellow flowers. I've never seen a Vanilla fluff before and I think it's very pretty. Those mums remind me of either a sunset or sunrise with their hot colours - simply gorgeous. :-D Thanks for having an easy day Cheryl. -Just one question - when is the next one going to be?
Thank you Philip. I just love that Pride of Barbados... it's definitely one of my favorite plants. I'm going to plant another one or two along that fence next year. They just add so much color right now when everything else is shutting down. Thank you Ronnie. After looking at that photo, I realized that burner needs painting again. I salvaged it out of some junk that was getting thrown out of my dad's old workshop. I instantly new it would become some sort of plant stand. My brother thought I was crazy when I painted it with bright colors. Thank you SGM. When do we get to see your stuff? Hint hint. Thank you Eileen. That mum has been flowering all year. I'm hoping all those buds will explode at the same time. I like your description of sunset/sunrise colors. And I'm really liking that Cassia. It's nice to see that bright yellow out there.
