My Rose Aquarium is still going strong. These Roses have been in the globe and under water since the middle of July. Two months. They are still wonderful.

Those are lovely Barb and the roses do indeed still look very fresh.

It's a rose aquarium. I bought them at a garage sale many years ago. Tomorrow I will show you how it comes apart. It's too late right now to do it.

Ok I took pics as I cleaned the globes so you could see how they worked. First I made sure my hands were cleaned and not slippery with oils. I also learned to move very slowly and not walk with your elbows out. I keep them close to my sides. LOL

And now the Red ones. As you see the Red Rose was nearer to the window so it grew more algae(red slime).

They both cleaned up beautifully. I think they actually went into the globe on the 7th of July, that's 9 weeks. I have not cleaned them or opened them until just now. I want to see how long they last in these rose globes.

They are getting translucent and the red one lost 3 petals but they still have some life in them.

    It's been fun.

They will actually last forever if you use Formalin instead of water. But that chemical is toxic, so not to be used in a home that has kids and/or pets...

Do you think? I have formalin but I wouldn't want to use it with the plastic bottom n the globe. Plus I just don't like the idea of using at all.

I have a third globe but it's not as thin glass and doesn't seem as pretty. I do use that one when there are lots of flowers out there.

So you pretty much just stick a rose in some water in an enclosed "bubble"? wow

Guess you could use a screw on lidded jar. It wouldn't look as pretty.

The water got smelly because didn't change for this whole time.

It's the first time I added a drop of bleach with the water and that's why I didn't change it for so long. I just wanted to see if it would make them last longer and it sure did the trick.

I have used my globes for years but always changed the water every week. Now I won't have to.

And I'm not sure if this is like mine. The price is not the same either. I paid $1.00.:D

It may be a regular globe that is glued together. I would never put those in sunlight.

I have tried many kinds and most only last a few days to a week. Roses work best.

Thanks for the links Barb. I'll look around here first before ordering though as I'd prefer a new one at those prices.
