passion flower foliage all deformed and mishaped ???

anyone have any ideas as to why my passion flower leaves mostly come out mishaped and sometimes all folded up??? :-?

 

Do you have picture? have you inspected it closely for thrips?

I wonder if you had aphids early on while the leaves were developing.
Or perhaps some other sort of "trauma", like freezing, worm damage or constriction.

I find this question interesting.

 

I don't know much about this stuff but my grandma always said if you see a curled up leaf like that begin to look for bugs.

 

Can't see no bugs around, had tons of caterpillars on other things but not this. Some of the foliage also has yellow blotches?? Only had it a few months

 

Check the stems. There may be insect damage there (look for white spots, scars, etc.) that impedes the flow of nutrients up and down the stem. Sometimes leaves show evidence of insect damage although they are free of insects themselves.

 

Is the species you have a butterfly host plant where you are? The stippling (tiny spots on the leaves) is typical if spider mite presence.

 

I'm really not sure, the yellow blotches only seem to be on the lower part of the plant. The lowest flower bud has recently turned yellow and fell off also I'd do some research if I could remember the species

 

managed to get one flower anyways . . . :-D
