I was beginning to wonder if it would ever bloom!
I do love Hibiscus, but the hardy ones seem to only be white, red or pink. So when I saw that Theodoros had a YELLOW hardy one, I just had to have it. The seeds germinated pretty easy. The plant grew very well... nice and big... even the one in a container.
But, no buds all summer. Until about a week ago.

And today, I had a couple of blooms! Even the one in the ground had some.

The photo is a bit misleading. It might only be about 3-4 inches... but it is a beauty! Especially that deep red center that almost looks brown, even in person.
    Thanks Theodoros!

Very nice. Will those flowers get any larger as the plant matures?

    Thanks everyone!
Barb, the flower is supposed to be around 4 inches. So I think this might be the right size.
Funny though... while looking it up, it says its normal bloom time is January - April. So maybe I'll get another round of blooms in the Spring?

    Cute one. And from seed!
Are you sure that's the blooming period?
Was it a site from Southern half of the Globe?
    :)

    It must have been.
There's no way it would be big enough by April to bloom if it dies back over the winter. Guess time will tell with this one.

Philip... the center is a gorgeous deep red. Wish it would photograph better. And you're right... I just hope Theodoros comes back and see that it actually bloomed.
