We came home from the grocery store this morning to find this beautiful little flower in our makeshift garden!! No idea what it is, but it sure is pretty! Definitely was not there yesterday evening when I made my watering rounds!

    Canna X generalis (Canna )

Actually a Canna is not a Lily but sometime in the long ago past the name Canna Lily was stuck on it and just won't let go. I think it got confused with the plant Calla Lily and through mispronunciation the common names have been confused.

I am really enjoying this gardening thing since we have been in Texas. We are renting a house and stuff keeps popping up everywhere that we thought was dead! It's really awesome! I like taking the plants and saving them! I get rewarded with sights like this!

Now heather0315, You've gone and done it.....I now need lots of these. :D Of course I'll bet I will have to take them in for the Winter being from Pa. and all. I didn't know that's what they looked like.

That is beautiful. Do you mind sharing how much you paid for it?

I can think of a million places that I can put them.

We did not actually pay for it, as it was left at the rental house here in Texas. We just moved it into a big pot and nursed it back to health! We have two of them but only one has produced flowers. The other one is planted in the ground by our neighbors and hasn't produced flowers. I definitely want to look in to getting more!

I know we saw some at Home Depot! I would check there! I am wondering what other colors there are and already plotting where to put them!
