We were up at the cabin for a fall clean up. The variety of fungi was enormous. As we drove along the street you could see huge ones in many different colors. Here are a few of the smaller ones around the cabin. Some were wood types and conks, some were in the grass and in the moss.

This last mushroom is a chanterelle. They are sold in grocery stores here, and there is a small plot of them by the back door.

I liked this posting, Jewell. I have been collecting foto's from, my recent hiking expeditions like this...but from here, naturally.
These are so impressive, I do not know if I will post them or not.

Anyhow, what a great collection you have here.

Most of our flowers may be gone for the year but Mother Nature always has more delights in store for us doesn't she? :D

Eileen, Mushrooms have such a short life it is always such a surprise when the conditions are right and they all just appear. These photos were taken with my phone so it is always hard to get very clear images. They have such a wide variety of types. Now I wish I would have asked to stop the car to get some photos of the large ones.

Sjoerd, would love to see the variety of things you see on your walks. I always find it fascinating to see the diversity that is so often overlooked.

I agree with you--I enjoy seeing the diversity of other countries. I will see if I can post something this evening. I believe that " A Man and His Dog" is coming on tonight, so that will cut into my computering time. It's the finals, I believe.
