Started shoveling and sifting yesterday and just finished. I never dreamed I'd have this much from the two composters in background. PH is 6.5. :-D
Can anyone tell me if I put this compost into a 55 gallon trash can, do I need to drill holes in it?

Donna, why put it in a barrel at all? Just put it on your gardens and let it soak in over winter. One less task in the busy spring!
That is beautiful compost, but not as beautiful as the flowers and vegetables that it will help grow.

Jane, The pile on the ground will go in the gardens. I want to mix my own potting soil for all my big pots as well as seedling transplants next spring. And I need to keep it in the greenhouse over the winter so it's ready when I am..

    Ah, the light dawns! :setc_015:
For potting soil, yes, do drill holes in the barrel, or alternately, put a fine mesh over the top and leave the lid off. You'll have to go in with a small shovel and turn it over once or twice, so it won't pack down or absorb too much moisture from the atmosphere.
    I think I'm suffering from compost envy . . . .
