Today we have the lobster mushroom, this actually is not a mushroom, but rather a parasite that grows on mushrooms, turning them a reddish orange color. Whoa!!!!! What is that!!!??? It looks like it belongs on a Caribbean beach with some bathers luxuriating under it!
Today we have another with a name to match it, Gem studded puffball, Lycoperdon perlatum. Just looks like it is covered in gems. Be careful if you sqeeze puffballs as they contain hallucinating stuff, also you don't want it in your eyes. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
Here we have one of those small, often missed species, Calocera cornea, Clublike Tuning Fork. Good common name for this one, it is very small. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
I was away for the week-end so have a lot to catch up on. The last few pictures are really interesting. The parasol one with its many layers and the oyster one are my favourites. Todays looks like the miniature plants my daughter and I used to put in her toy village. Of course they were made of plastic though.
