Over time our walls become dirty but we can’t clean them with any products. Do you have any tips or tricks for this? Thanks for help,
I love the "Magic Eraser" for getting spots off the walls, but this wouldn't work for big areas. I wash my walls down floor to ceiling twice a year with soapy water too.
Gwen17, what kind of walls do you have that they can't be washed? the only kind of walls that I have seen that weren't washable had fabric/upholstery on them. Flat paint is washable, but it doesn't look clean, wood is at least wipeable. otherwise vacuum the walls to get any dust off of them.
Yeah, I was going to ask the same question. Flat paint on walls looks weird when it's wet, but it dries to look just as it was...minus the dirt. I've attacked walls with everything from plain water to bleach, grease cutters to soap. Of course if I'm not sure what might happen, I test an inconspicuous area first, but I've never had any product that I've used damage a wall.
If wallpaper is soiled you can use white bread. Just make a wad of cheap white bread and use it like an eraser. When the wad gets dirty, throw it out for the birds! I am not kidding. I worked at a historic home museum, and we cleaned the 19th century wallpaper this way. It won't remove water marks or mold stains, but ordinary house dirt goes away. Finally, a good use for that spongy square white bread!
Soapy water is ok but it depends on the walls, you can also use potatoes; it’s a perfect wall cleaner.
