Take this trip by video,..firstly for the scenery but mostly for the fact we get seeds coming in on the west coast all the way from America,..some seeds are tropical others are Alpine,..nowhere in the world are there such a mixture of seeds and flowers as in The Burren,..County Clare which has an almost Lunar Landscape,..it was on the west coast that Christopher Columbas set out and discovered America,..all that after the videos below,..the first is my own video. Video===Irelands West Coast ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ===================================================== This second video is again my own of the Skelligs,..located off the west coast. Video===The Skelligs ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ==================================================== Galway City,..where Christopher Columbas set sail from,..my own video. Video===Galway City ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) =================================================== Lastly this is the big one,..all of 58 minutes and this is the one where you will see those plants grown in The Burren,..from Florida and warmer climates,..you can also see what we do with Seaweed. Philip I would love visit Ireland again. It's been years since I was there. (I went to Cork in my twenties.) I didn't get much chance to see the scenery then as I was staying with friends. Your videos make me want to rush out a book a holiday on the West coast.
Hi Eileen,..delighted you found those videos interesting,..thank you for your nice comments. The amount of times i was going to reply to a post but found you had posted exactly what i was going to comment is unbelievable and once again you have beaten me to it,..i was thinking over the past few days of inviting you and Ian over here and there you are saying you would love to visit here,..well how about this. I put both of you up in our local guesthouse which is over a pub and within 1 minute walk of the river and less than that to the castle,..a short journey by train to both Galway and Dublin,..weather permitting a few trips on the River Shannon and Lough Ree,..think on it. ==================================================== Hi Frank,..i had just posted my reply to Eileen and spotted you had posted while i was typing. I did think of you and your part of the world,..Galway,.. as i was adding the videos and was thinking of mentioning this was your area but didn't want to pinpoint you,..glad you approve as its a beautiful area which i visit often.
I've never visited Ireland, but it's on my "must-do-list" for whenever we have time. Your videos made me want to move Ireland a bit further up the list. I never thought your landscape was so diverse. I've tended to believe that Ireland is rather flat and green bar a few spots inland, but that's not the case at all, is it? I really need to visit the monastery, it looks ever so interesting. And I had to google to find out who the King of Carhel in 490 AD was. He was called Aengus. The only Irish king I've ever read about is Brian of Boruma. BBC will have to wait, but I'm going to look through it later.
Looks great, never been to Ireland but have visited Scotland a few times, Wales, Jersey and Austria and lived on Malta for a couple of years many years ago.
Philip how I wish I could take you up on your offer soon. Ian is in the midst of sorting out his Aunt Lily's estate at the moment (he's her executor) and it's taking longer than we'd hoped as she didn't leave a will. Trying to trace relatives in America is proving a tad frustrating but, fingers crossed, once that is done and the house sold everything should settle down for us. I would so love to visit Ireland and see where Molly and you go for your walks and have a few long chin wags.
Hi Droopy,..ah yes you must view the BBC video as its far the better of the lot covering a bigger area and giving more interesting information,..the scenes are well worth looking at,..as for time to go on holiday its always a problem trying to work out when one is free to go and who will look after your place and animals. ====================================================== Hi Kildale,..Malta is a fantastic place to visit,..i was there twice,..even though its a small island and the opportunity to visit the island of Gozo broadens the area there is so much of historical buildings to see,..you were lucky to have resided there. ====================================================== Hi Eileen,..perhaps by the time summer arrives you and Ian might be free,..i went through sorting out my mothers estate in that i wanted nothing from it,.. despite that the tax man wanted to bill me much later as someone neglected to change ownership,.. . A week here would cost you very little as the guest house would be free,..and i am a good guide . As for myself trying to get away,..i had a bright idea of asking my Ex to live in my house while i would be away,..looking after the pets but i would have to hide everything maybe not such a bright idea at all.
