This is the new latticework wall that my son built for me. I have three rose bushes planted there, and will put some annuals around them in the spring.

Very nice. Is that around a deck that is attached to your house??? Looks cool.

My son also built the deck. My old bedroom used to be where the deck is, but had to be torn down due to extreme water damage. My new bedroom is in a slightly different spot, so there was a 'hole' and we put the porch there.

Well, That is neat. Will those roses climb up on that?

Yes, two of them will climb it. The one on the right is Rosa Queen Elizabeth, the middle one is a knock out rose, Pink Home Run, and the left one is a start off of my "Rosa Walmart" which is some variety of a burgundy tea type rose, but it climbs a lot.

And this is exactly the type of thing I love to see! Something of the house, which the owner/occupant built themselves! No hiring of any filthy contractors, nor some other type of bloody professionals - Just our own free style imagination (combined with fun)! So my guess is that this will outlast everything else!

By the way, if you'd like to add something to this - Than install some solar powered LED lights on the top (looking down). That way this whole thing will look just as good in the night, as it does in daytime! :D

Can't wait to see it later on in the year when everything grows up.

Oh I do like that!! :D How I wish my sons would build me something similar. It's going to look even more lovely once the roses grow up it and the annuals are planted.

Thank you for the idea S-H. I will keep my eye out for some solar lights. I know where I can get some to stick into the ground below it, but don't recall any for up top.

What a pretty area. Very nice. You'll have to show it to us once the roses are blooming

They are quite common actually. Just see these 2 pages:

    http://www.alternativeenergyhow.com/eve ... ar-lights/
    http://www.matthewb.id.au/solar/outdoor ... ights.html

Of course, any ordinary light will also do here. A light is actually a must, or else it will get too dark in the night (and so you may find many critters on your porch in the morning). I just said solar lights, because I didn't want to suggest something which would add to the electricity bill.

    Thanks!

I do have flood lights outside that I use on occasion, but not all the time because of the light bill, and also they shine in a neighbor's bedroom. Oops.
