I have a continuous supply of cilantro and parsely growing in my garden. I plant them in a cold frame along with some leaf lettuce in the fall and enjoy a fresh salad at Thanksgiving. Dill is also great for the tomato/cucumber salads straight from the garden. As for the green onions....i purchased seeds from Burpee.com along with sweet red bulb onion seeds and had a great crop. The neighbors sure like me during the summer. Happy Gardening! grdngal
That great grdngal How long have you been growing herbs? Was the cold frame a recent addition because you needed your herbs all year round?
Its a thrill to go outside with snow on the ground and to open the coldframe for some fresh parsley. I know, its crazy but a challenge to see if I can actually manage to maintain a small garden over winter.
I'm sure the neighbors like you all the time. We have a terrible time growing cilantro here, it goes to seed immediately. I might like to try it in a coldframe. My husband broke a window in mine throwing the ball for the dog. :'(
grdngal, I had not thought of having a cold frame for herbs until you mentioned it, now it is on Randy's list of things to do for me......he says to tell you "Thanks a lot"
:-? :-D Now the secret is out Richard!!LOL!! I love herbs too!! It's must be great to go out and pick them all year!! I need a cold frame too!!
Good idea Grdngal. The only herb I have is in the kitchen for smell (mint). Reggaefan good one and so true.
