Our new home is now almost a Home Sweet Home and all the 3 bathrooms are done. The contractor was not able to continue because the next part of the remodeling needs approval from the town council and we still have not got it yet because they lost 2 copies of our plan - we have to submit 4 copies. Resubmit the 2 lost copies and keeping our fingers crossed. It takes about another 2 weeks before we can get the approval.

We have about 15 days before the madness start again and it is nice to be in a no dust and hacking noise environment again. We took this break to stock up our favourite breakfast food ... bacon and sausages.

The cure was perfected after many trials to suit our taste buds ... yum!!!

The pork belly was ordered a day in advance from our butcher so that we get the best cut. :)

Yes it is a pump for inflatables :D

Having done the bacon I move on to the sausages. This time I have to make use of dried and frozen herbs which I collected before moving... they tasted better with fresh herbs.

The casing is natural and it is pig intestine. I clean them myself and usually get more than is needed so that I can make them yummy sausages anytime moreover they can be kept for a very long time.

I modified the meat grinder into a sausage stuffer and it works really well. I tried to buy one but there was none in the market. My first experience in sausage took me a real long time and it was really difficult without the right tools. It was tiring but the yumminess drive me on :D

This is the first time I made bacon and sausages on the same day and we had a very late lunch of very yummy sausages ... bacon have to wait another 6 days.

Well KK, this is the first time I have seen sausages made at home. An interesting setup. Thanks for the pictures. I hope the home approval process gets rolling again.

You are some great sausage/bacon maker, KK! I envy you being able to order things from the butcher. Here we take what's on offer at the grocery. There is a local "butcher shop" but he gets all his meat off the same truck as the grocer and just charges more. :'(

    Yummmmm. That will be delicious.

I feel like we are still vacuuming up dry wall dust a week after everything was painted. Will it ever settle out? Why does remodeling have to be so dusty?

    Jerry, glad you enjoyed it.

Your poor thing Marlingardener, it is always important to get the right cut of meat for a great meal. I'll cook you some sausages and bacon one day.

Yes they are yummy Cherylad, I'll cook some for you too!!!

Thanks Barb, just changed the cure for the bacon this morning. You can see the result here - http://www.gardenstew.com/about21797.html

Oops ... Sorry Donna, I'll email a couple to you :D

Jewell you are so right, it still feels dusty.
