This weather has gotten me down. I need to buck up.

We have had one H--- of a winter this year in the NE: intense cold and multiple snowfalls of 6-8" & 8-12". If you live in the NE USA, one has to be prepared for this. I am usually a trooper, but this year has been a tough one. Our snowblower is broken so we are down to shoveling; our daughter, called in to work during a storm, had an accident with her car (she's fine); I am self-employed and have had to cancel work 3 times....yada, yada, yada.

I have to get my game on, right?

Our winter is nothing compared to what is happening in Ireland & England, nothing compared to the snow & ice in Georgia and along the Atlantic seaboard. A storm is due today, but it is Saturday I have nowhere to go and nothing I HAVE to do, so don't sweat it, right?

"At least the snow is pretty" said Pollyanna.

And that's why we are in Texas, Cayuga! The last winter we were in upstate NY nearly broke us-- unrelenting snow and cold.
I found getting a small group of friends together for a meal with the caveat that the weather was a forbidden topic helped. It also helped if the wine flowed freely ;) .
I'm glad your daughter is fine, and that you have the option of staying home when it's particularly nasty out. You are more important than anything you could accomplish at work.
So, stay well, stay warm, and the thaw will come.

I'd be going through serious cabin fever if I had to deal with all of that (again). We've been complaining about our cold winter down here... but we're so fortunate that it only lasts for a day or two at a time.
I think all of you gardeners up north need greenhouses so you can have some place to play when the weather is nasty. :stew2:

Take heart...it will be over ...soon! just keep repeating this. I do. glad your daughter is fine, too. I constantly worry a little every time she (my daughter) drives out the drive, but this year has been so bad that when the roads are bad the schools are closed, so that has helped. Hopefully the car can be fixed soon and will be a learning experience memory.

    Thanks all.
Carolyn: Yes, I am sure our daughter has learned from her accident. She acknowledges she was obviously going too fast for the conditions. It is ironic because she is a better driver than me.

Koszta: Our son was stopped by the cops for not cleaning the snow off the top of his car. He had to clean it while the cop watched. The snow can flip off while driving and hit another car. Son did learn something!

I am fed up with winter too! Mid February blah's usually make me 'shack wacky' but this year it is worse than ever because winter started so early. 32 days until spring and counting!

Wow Sjoerd!! Beautiful! That first one in particular is spectacular. It looks like a path with flowers on left & right & the left side is growing from an embankment. Beautiful.

Maybe I'll spend some time today looking through summer garden pictures.

Netty--I hope Sjoerd's photos are a pick me up for you as well. BTW I am counting the days too.

CM, I really feel for you! :smt056 Last winter was horrible for me, with frost from mid-October until the beginning of May and double-digit °C below zero. Very unusual. I hope a virtual hug will lift your mood a bit.

It sure does Droopy. Thanks. And you know what? Spur of the moment a friend called to ask if I wanted to go cross country skiing! I did & I went. Haven't done that in 4 or 5 years. It was great fun.

My husband is sick right now, and he has lost his ski boots, so of course he didn't go. But I'm gonna see if I can persuade him to go with me another time. It was great.
