Kiasmum inquired once about the krokus in bloom here. Well, I have taken some foto's, but I am afraid that the pics aren't all that good...however, it gives an idea of how things are beginning here.

Featured flowers are krokusses, snowbells and winter aconite. Hope you like 'em.

S, What is the yellow flower in the second picture? it isn't anything I am familiar with. It doesn't look like a crocus to me.

I love those flowers. I don't have them here but I've had them in Wisconsin. Beautiful start to spring.

I think that is Eranthis (winter aconite) it's in the same family with Ranunculus.

NETTY--you are too welcome. I realise that you need to see some sun and colours. Happy that you enjoyed the pics.

    Thanks CHERYL.

Hiya CAROLYN-- Toni is right, it is indeed a winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis). I have mine planted in amongst the krokus, snowbells and Muscari botryoides. When they are planted by themselves they are splendid and the honeybees are mad about them and come in droves.

Thank you DOOLEY--Yeah, I'll bet that you did see and have then in Wisconson. I believe that there are some sorts of krokus that will grow in Texas too. They are delightful.

Ahhhhhh... WARE-- I really hope that your spring will VERY soon begin there. I have to say that Mother Nature only teases us with a sunny day followed and preceeded bu four days of rain, then repeating the cycle. It still freezes at night here.
I do believe that the spring is on its way though.

Thank you so much, EILEEN--I'll bet that you have some of the same, right?

You are right about that,. TONI.

Glad that the posting lifted your spirits, DONNA. Seeing them lifted mine. :)

Beautiful flowers Sjoerd and you have bees too! I've seen a couple near the park but not in my garden for a while.

I hope that our similar weather pattern moves off very soon...

KIASMUM--Glad that you liked these foto's. I liked it that the bees were foraging as well. At some times, they would be literally covered in bees and you could hear them loudly buzzing whilst walking along side them.

Thank you JEWELL-- It was delightful to be sure.

Don't give up, WARE-- The snow may insulate the flower buds and yet be cold enough to keep them insulated. Sometimes they will perish, but usually they will still be visible when the snow melts. I suppose that it is a lottery, but I wouldn't write them off just yet.

Yes KAY--they are blooming their little hearts out here at the moment. Don't be jealous meid--for you will have blooms when mine are gone and I am in that dreadful down-time between the krokus and Forsythia and daffs. Thanks for commenting ma'am.
