Definitely hazel wood Poppy. We have a lot of walking sticks made from it as the hazel grows well for us here in the UK. It tends to be a nice, straight growth which is ideal for making staffs like yours.

I agree - Hazel. I used to reside in south west Scotland and we had a hazel wood at the rear of the garden. Used to batch up pollarded hazel 'sticks' and then make them into walking sticks and sell them to the tourists. Those were the days!
