A while back I started a thread over here, about plants being sold on Pushcarts. Here is the link:
    http://www.gardenstew.com/about27591.html

But now, yesterday I mean - As I was going on my way, I had a very Sunny experience on the road. Actually I also had a very pleasant and Sunny experience the day before yesterday also, but that isn't relevant here... Anyway, as I was driving I saw another Pushcart with plants heading my way! And on it were the very things I am most crazy about! Yes, you guessed it - SUNFLOWERS!!! :stew1:

So this is how I have now started off my Spring season! :D

The vendor must have known your love of sunflowers and waylaid you. :D You've got a real beauty there. :-D

Great encounter S-H,..and a very nice Sunflower,..how could anyone resist the temptation of a mobile plant sale coming to you instead of searching for a garden center.

A sunflower!! A wonderful vestige of Spring S-H. Especially when there is still a foot of snow on the ground and another 8 inches on the way. I am half tempted to plant some sunflower seeds. Hmmm….

Thank you Eileen! So glad that you too like this purchase! Yes, you are right, as I too was thinking the same thing, (about getting waylaid by the pushcart vendor)... :D

Thankfully no, not this time - Even though there may have been a few skid marks on the road again. But at least there was no cop around to give me a ticket. So officially speaking, there were no reported traffic problems this time... ;)

That's right Philip! You seem to have nailed it! Besides, sunflowers have always been a weakness of mine... :stew1:

Yes Jerry, please do plant some seeds! As you'll be bound to experience a lot of pleasure as they'll grow. Unfortunately, sunflowers over here are not so popular... I am sure people do love them, but the plant nurseries just don't want to sell plants that are cheap - They rather import exotic (and thus costly) plants from Southeast Asia. Which of course eventually die in my climate within the first year. But they are happy about it, as this is how they get to sell more and more plants... So speaking strictly from a business point of view, this is the very reason why cheap indigenous plants are not in favor here. :'(

Yesterday was the opening day of the Pakistan's biggest Flower Show (which will last for 4 more days). Which is why I am so last to post in this thread... But unfortunately, a few people were selling sunflower seeds - But it was the same story on every stall. Everybody wants to sell costly exotic plants, for more profit.

But some vendors like this guy with a pushcart, they seem to break away from the norm - And perhaps this is why they too are becoming more popular with each passing day. As they now sell very good looking plants, that are cheap, indigenous, and won't die in our climate! :D

Love seeing the sunflowers. Won't see any around here before July.

Flower varieties do seem to come and go as favorites. It used to be people didn't appreciate the native plants here too. Once the floral industry started harvesting wild plants and water prices continued to rise native plants are finding there way into nurseries. They are now being propagated by the nurseries because of the demands.

Do you have it planted in a pot or the ground? Sunflowers are so cheery. I need to plant some this year.

I have it in the same clay pot it came with. Seems to be doing very well, and is still flowing out of control! So I'm now very happy, as the more it flowers, the more seeds I'll get! :D
