That looks lovely! It reminds me of a garden I saw at Canada Blooms last year that was made with a canoe From the other side ... it had a waterfall!

It does look very intriguing. It looks like they have cut the decking around to accommodate the canoe. I wonder what they do with it in winter. The canoe must still have been useable because it clearly holds water. I love the bright limey green of the duck weed. I have a bright blue pot I could put it in. BTW, also check out that frog!!! I want one in my pot!
Not necessarily, maybe? :-D The friend I lived with before I moved here had a pond, and it had a very heavy duty liner in it to make it watertight. I would have to assume the canoe was re-purposed after some damage to it, so putting that same kind of pond liner in it would make it watertight. That's very cool! Though I can't imagine why it wouldn't attract mosquitoes. I'm not sure I'd be able to keep up with it not overflowing though, which she says is a real concern. In areas where there's not much rain, it would't be a problem. But Nashville gets a LOT of rain, and I sure wouldn't want to have to remember to cover it up every time so that those thousands of little green plants didn't go floating away when it overflowed!
Since Dh got new John boat. Wonder if he would miss the old one In my mind thinking how much dirt-has built in drain
Good point Ronni about the liner. Nashville gets a lot of rain?? I did not know, but then again I do think of Tennessee as being very verdant, so it makes sense. Are you considering a canoe garden?
No, not really. Well, I wasn't when I found this picture, but now.......well, it IS really darling! There's a river behind our house, and a canoe launch place a couple of blocks away. I've been considering doing some canoeing, and was searching online to see how much a used canoe would cost. That lovely canoe garden turned up while I was searching, and I just had to share with you all.
