How do I know? Because every time I have a fabulous time pottering about in our gardenI always suffer afterwards. I have ribs that move from where they ought to be and no matter how hard I try to be careful they will make me suffer.Thankfully I already have a physiotherapy appointment booked for Monday afternoon,so if Mark needs to remind me what a fab day I had then I won't have long to wait to be put back together. The cause of my potential discomfort? Helping to empty the greenhouse for disinfecting and transplanting strawberry runners into the new bed Empty greenhouse and lots transplanted... ( photo / image / picture from Kiasmum's Garden ) Pruning, weeding and emptying old pots ready for new occupants later in the season Green waste ready for recycling ( photo / image / picture from Kiasmum's Garden ) Mark did the greenhouse while I tackled the old strawberry bed and planted out last year's runners.
Somehow it is different when we are sore from an activity we enjoyed, don't you think? I hope you aren't too sore Karin!
There is good pain, and bad pain. Your pain is from doing something useful and enjoyable. It hurts, but I'd bet you still have a smile on your face!
Pain endured while having fun always seems less painful That's a whole lotta pots KM. You did great work.
Wish my ground I could dig in-still froze-deep. But when you work outside -sleep sound. And pain goes away faster.
I hear you... last Sat. was kinda the second one out there in the garden. (During the week I can't go, i'd have about an hour of daylight and it's not worth the trouble). AND I did weeding mainly, and when I got home around 6 pm, I couldn't change my clothes (couldn't lift my feet). And my baaack... Is this cause of all those long winter evenings in front of the tv?
Cal,in my case I just have a crappy body! I think the biggest cause of problems is that we often forget to stretch after gardening- not considering it to be exercise in the same way as sport.
KM--I hope that is true, because then we could do something to mitigate the aches & pains. I'll try to remember to stretch. That is, once it warms up enough that I can garden again.
