I have this shrub / small tree growing in my backyard which is flowering now. Can you please identify this shrub for me?

A Magnolia is what you have there. I have one exactly the same in my own garden and I think they are beautiful.

Thanks Eileen. I love it too.
I took the name Magnolia and looked at the different types. Looks like I have a 'Magnolia X Loebneri Powder Puff'.

What a beauty. And it isn't in the GardenStew Database.

If you would go to this page... http://www.gardenstew.com/plantstew/plantsuggest.php and enter the name
Magnolia x loebneri 'Powder Puff' I can get it entered and then you can upload your photos to the page. Pretty Please I am not above begging when it comes to getting plants on our database. :-D

SORRY but the plant in the above pics doesn't resemble (in my brain) any Magnolia I've ever seen or imagined :)
More like something completely different... some lonicera? Just suggesting, don't kill me.

Well it very closely resembles my Magnolia x loebneri, but the Leonard Messner one rather than Powder Puff.
