I have a large galvanized tub out front near the front porch that I normally plant red Geraniums. During this past winter I used it as a peanut feeder for the Blue Jays and Squirrels. Raw peanuts, not the roasted ones.

Spring came and I wanted to plant something in that pot again so I scraped almost all the peanuts off and put them in different containers around the yard. But I couldn't get all of them. I had wondered if this would happen

The grey-green plant on the right is a Datura that I transplanted there but today I found all these bright green seedlings, one of them still has the peanut attached to the first leaves. Guess I had better move the Datura seedling.

That's really amazing that they just started growing. I almost wish that would happen with the sunflower seeds I sometimes leave out

I'm growing a lot of sunflowers in clumps. I'm thinking I'll just hoe up around them and plant some more to fill in the bed.

I hope those peanut seedlings go on to produce peanuts. How cool would that be!! :D I've never seen peanuts grow except on the TV.

How interesting is that! I have grown peanuts before for the fun of it, not seriously, and so I can be excited for you. I will tell you that if you are able to harvest just a few peanuts, you will not forget it.

Back in the day, my grandfather was "famous" for his peanuts around here. I didn't even know they would grow here since this was mostly rice, soybean and cotton territory.

yeah, what mart says. They are expensive in the store, you may wish to keep some plants. I hear they are good for the soil?

    That is great!
Let us know how they are come harvest time!
I accidentally started growing corn from our birdfeeder. We didn't get any harvest from it, though. I guess it started too late in the season.
