some plants around my property that took my interest. there's so many I have no idea what they are, but these ones seemed to peak my interest, so trying to figure out what they could be. 1 no idea ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) 2 same plant as 1 ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) 3 small bush, no idea ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) 4 trillium? ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) 5 small tree, no idea ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) 6 same tree as 5 ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) 7 same tree as 5 ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) 8 crabapple? weird how it has tiny small stems the grow leaves like that. ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden )
The plant in the first 2 pictures are Red Elderberry bushes. They can become invasive as the birds spread their seeds. Sambucus racemosa (Red Elderberry, European Red Elder) Im not certain of the 3rd photo yet, but the 4th is indeed a Trillium Trillium erectum (Red Trillium, Beth Root) I'd like to see pictures of the 6&7th when the leaves open.
specimine 3 flowers a few weeks later ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) number 3 bush ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) looks like the weird alien looking thing was a maple tree, never seen anything like that before. you can see how much growth came out of those stems since the fist picture was taken. ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden ) What are these things?, they seem to grow all around the property in various places. ( photo / image / picture from film495's Garden )
This last image is Horsetail, it doesn't do much and becomes very invasive. I would get rid of it quick!
Netty---I couldn't remember that name! Thank you. I have it growing in a dampish area that is wild, uncultivated.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equisetum_fluviatile the horsetail version, I believe is this. I looked it up and there are a few different kinds, but I'm pretty sure it is this. It is growing along a small stream with some other stuff, fern and what not, and also in a wet area near the edge of the woods. I think it is native, I have a few garden areas, and the rest of the lot and woods, I'm lookin got just leave the native plants, such a learning curve to figure out what things are, thanks for the help in figuring stuff out.
Depending on what kind of horsetail it is, it may not be so bad to have around: http://www.localharvest.org/horsetail-t ... erb-C13173
