Widow's Tears. Spiderwort. Bright Red Peony. Hardy Geranium. Rozanne. Rhubarb Flowers. I started rhubarb plants four years ago using the winter sowing method. This is the first year I could use the rhubarb stalks. I left one bloom to get seeds to start more next year (usually you break the blooms off so the stalks keep growing). Thay are beautiful white/cream colored flowers. Garden cat. Shadow was so tired. He caught a mole in the garden and had it for desert.
I like the shape and colour of the spiderwort. I have a peony just like yours and some hardy geraniums too. I've never seen rhubarb in bloom before - hat interesting and lovely flowers they produce. Shadow looks as though he's picked a comfy spot for digesting that mole. :-D
Donm--Thank you for showing us some photos. I don't grow rhubarb & didn't know it bloomed like that. I realize now I have seen it in other gardens, just not knowing what it was. Congrats on successfully growing it from seed. I really enjoyed seeing part of your garden behind the rhubarb. Looks like you have a gorgeous place there. And, of course your kitty is adorable!
Well done and interesting read, but I am wondering how big is a mole? I always thought that a mole was as big as a cat, so I am interested in your story about cat eating a mole! We don't have moles here so it is fascinating to hear that a cat can eat one.
Chocolate the moles and voles we have here in Pennsylvania are bigger than a mouse but smaller than a rat. The cat is really the neighbors cat. The moles or voles were eating my iris rhizomes and lily bulbs. I saw the cat several times and talked to him. I thought if I gave him a little food maybe he would stay nearby. It worked. He loves to be petted. I don't think he got enough attention from his owners. I purr when I get attention, too. lol.
