I had a bunch of garden work that I just didn't have the time to get to. This week, I tried to get that stuff done. Also, this weeks rain made everything grow, especially the weeds! This winter was a hard one and I had lots of pruning of dead wood to do and so I set to it yesterday. I had left it with hopes that it was just late coming out, but after a closer look it was dead from a foot above the ground. A pruning didn't leave much of it, but at least it has some life ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Looking at the garden now, it looks so bare, and the compost pile is no longer hidden by the shrub. I may have to move that. ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Right now, the Poppies are catching the eye ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) I also pruned the Wisteria, Forsythia, and Weigela that still had winter kill. Sadly, I lost 2 Rose bushes this winter. I finally got the very first bloom from the Cabbage Rose I got from a friend a few years back. ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) We had posts for the veggie garden fence that needed dug in. I got 6 dug Tuesday after work. My husband said I couldn't do it ... I showed him! This spring left the job of edging, weeding and planting the new section. It still needs some plants, so I will be doing a bit of plant shopping with my birthday money ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) I also got all the beds weeded yesterday, so today I get to relax if I want. Netty your garden has always been a favourite of mine. If I had the space mine would look just like yours. All the hard work you put into it shows that you love what you do and your plants obviously appreciate the care you give them all. I'm still drooling over those gorgeous peonies.

Wow! it looks great. Even the sambucus looks good even though so much of it died back, at least it made it. Did you do those pole with a post hole digger or did you have an attachment for the tractor? that is work!
Thanks! I used a shovel and garden claw to dig those holes. There was only 6 of them, 3 feet deep. I have to put one more in when I get the measurements for the gate. I am also going to pound in some metal posts between the wooden ones. I will be so glad when the fence it finally up!
