Tall, all green leafy "weed", hollow stalk, no tap tall weed, not a tree ( photo / image / picture from jocbaker's Garden ) This is a tall all green weed, not woody, weak hollow stem, I have seen them in my beds and pulled them when they are about a foot tall, if I don't pull them, it will grow very tall. Easy to pull, no tap root.
Thanks for the reply. Not milkweed and although it looks fuzzy in the picture there is nothing that would make it seem like a thistle. Not hairy but very scary. There are no flowers or pods on it either.
I think it is wild lettuce. It has a very sappy stem when you break it..but like milk. I don't think I would eat it though.
Thank you, that looks exactly right from what I have googled. I don't think I would eat it either. They scare me!
Your weed, from the best I can tell is what we call Polk salet. You can eat the leaves but I never have. I've know people who chop it and fry it, served with eggs. I'm a picky eater and I just couldn't make my self try it.
Phytolacca americana (American Pokeweed ) I have Pokeweed in my backyard and I don't this it's the same....the leaves are different.
