Since you have plenty of time to prepare you will have to go on this years tour. That will give you plenty of ideas. I am so glad you are on the list and giving it a go. Your garden is so beautiful remember lots of photos this year. Don't keep us waiting till next summer :stew1:

hey...maybe we could make an appointment to come the week of the tour and "help" you out (or drive you crazy)....Wouldn't that be fun? all of us Stewbies converging with out mugs in one hand and a trowel in the other.
Maybe we could get dooley to sew up some aprons that we could all look like we are professional "helpers".

    How exciting!

We have something similar over here whereby members of the public open their gardens to other members of the public. A small charge is made and there is usually tea and a slice of cake to buy then all the money raised goes to support a charity. Because of the charitable element there is a standard that has to be reached before the gardens can be opened and included in The Yellow Book-there has to be enough to keep interest for at least 45 minutes, etc etc

    http://www.ngs.org.uk

Its a great way to see lots of different gardens and support a good cause at the same time.

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time and get lots of visitors.

Jewell, They only have a tour every other year. I will have go find another garden club that is having a tour this year.

carolyn keiper, RE: mugs, trowels, Dooley, aprons and little helpers. Wow, if I had all of these things, my little gardens would be tweaked up and glorious. Sounds like a good time, maybe I will show up for the fun too.

KK Ng, You are a cool dude. Thank you.

Kiasmum, I followed your link and learn allot. What beautiful gardens I have seen in the past 24 hours. I am 'green' with envy.

Though these are not great photos I wanted you all to see what everything looked like yesterday. It was wonderful and so very rewarding. There was so much more to get done but, remember, this was not the real tour. This was just all my friends coming for a visit to see what it will look like next year. It was like an ice cream social with everyone walking in different areas of my property. One time I glanced around and I must have viewed 15 people wandering everywhere. Then we had refreshments and a snack and fresh fruit while they wandered around again. A few come back the second day.

We have so much more to do for the real garden tour in 2015. So in the end she committee called to judge my gardens on Friday. I asked them if they would like to come on Saturday or Sunday. They said yes. They were so happy with everything, I couldn't believe it. They said they overlook the things that are not perfect. They are not that picky.

I got a call Noon Sunday and I had been approved. WOW, COOL. Now I have to get my labels finished. We are so excited. My hubby was so happy with the weekend. It rained before hand and he couldn't get the grass cut. He did it last night after the tour was over and I was cleaning up.

So all the linens and dishes were washed and the grass was cut and we walked ourselves around reliving moments.

Everyone took about 2 and a half hours to walk the tour. My hubby And I took turns greeting the new arriving friends to start them on the tour. We just kept am eye on each other and communicated through hand signals.

It couldn't have been a more perfect weekend unless my Stewbie friends were here. By the way, I did carry my Garden Stew mug around most of the day.

This is great..I have been doing mini garden tours all day. Some people wanted to revisit and some just got back from a little weekend trip and wanted to see what they missed.

This morning I couldn't get all the calls answered and I was getting another one to say how much they loved the gardens. That was so cool.

Well worth all the work. Its so nice to know others enjoy the same thing you do.

The first thing would do is to actually write them a letter and ask them precisely what their requirements are for being accepted, garden-wise.

A further tip may be to look up on the internet what the requirements are for a garden to be in 'The Yellow Book' in Great Britain.

You may not know what this is, but it is something a bit similar to what you are talking about (or so it sounds to me).

Kiasmum may be able to help you with this....or here is a link where you can begin: http://www.ngs.org.uk/

Good luck and a VERY big congratulations.

addendum: Try and keep your garden in tip-top shape at all times...just in case they do a surprise visit. ;)

Thank you very much for the tips. They will be very useful. I have already need approved. It was done on Sunday morning.

I will keep everything running up to better standards this year. I will Winterize things in a more organized manner this Fall so the Spring goes faster. We do allot to get ornaments and parachute out along with mulching.

My friend found mulching in March works the best. I will order my mulch in October, with tarp under and over, store it, then spread in March.
