We spent Sunday harvesting and extracting honey: Frames filled with honey ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) These are the supers filled with frames which are filled with honey. We estimate about 120 lbs. in all. My kitchen is sticky; there are pots filled with honey all over; the wax box is on the kitchen table; and the extractor is taking up an incredible amount of space, but I'm so happy!
Oh, oh, oh---how sweet is that! I am so excited for you. I looked in my hives a few days ago and it looks like I will have four supers for sure...and the I shall just have to wait and see what the other two colonies will do. I may not take any honey from the weaker ones, but it depends upon how much they produce. It is raining here today and for the forcseeable future. This is not good because I have to listen and look in a couple of hives for piping in the coming couple of days. Rain or no rain, I shall have to look and act (hopefully). Anyhow, great posting ...and great news. I am making my own label for the jars this year. It is another fun aspect of beekeeping.
One Lb. jar, and 2 oz. honeybear ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) So, this is what we are getting. We have started bottling the one pound jars, and small 2 oz. honeybears for gifts. These haven't been labeled yet. Isn't that just the most gorgeous honey you have ever seen? And you ought to taste it!
Wow! I'm always so intrigued by bees and beekeeping. I'd love to have a hive someday. How many hives do you have?
Jane, what a beautiful color of honey. We buy labels specifically for the 2oz jar. They are pre-printed with our address and phone number. Call/google Better Bee for the information. They were actually cheaper than making or trying to find labels for the jar.
Carolyn, great minds run on the same track. We have personalized labels and nutrition content labels for the three sizes--and guess where we got them! We photographed the "bare" bottles to show the gorgeous color better. Not that we're proud of the honey color . . . .
