I've started daydlilies with seeds. You usually don't know what you will get untl they bloom. Daylilies will cross-pollinate.

Beautiful flowers! I've never tried growing day-lilies, how difficult are they to care for?

Great flowers Don!! Daylilies from seed provide you with many surprises. We are never quite sure what the flower will look like. This year I get 6 new, never seen before flowers, planted in 2011. So much excitement in a little package.

It takes them a couple of years to bloom from seed, right?

As a rule of thumb, daylilies take 3 years in the northern part of the US and Canada. In the South with extended warm periods it takes two years produce flowers.

I have never started any daylilies from seeds but some have started on their own in my flower beds....I love daylilies because they are so easy and I love deadheading the spent blooms. The red ones can really get messy on your hands if you don't wear gloves.

    Your pictures are beautiful...
