I've started daydlilies with seeds. You usually don't know what you will get untl they bloom. Daylilies will cross-pollinate.
Great flowers Don!! Daylilies from seed provide you with many surprises. We are never quite sure what the flower will look like. This year I get 6 new, never seen before flowers, planted in 2011. So much excitement in a little package. Jerry
As a rule of thumb, daylilies take 3 years in the northern part of the US and Canada. In the South with extended warm periods it takes two years produce flowers. Jerry
I have never started any daylilies from seeds but some have started on their own in my flower beds....I love daylilies because they are so easy and I love deadheading the spent blooms. The red ones can really get messy on your hands if you don't wear gloves. Your pictures are beautiful...
