is what I just finished cleaning up. It has been curing for the last 2 weeks or so. Trimmed, cleaned up a good bit and placed in the hanging scale. Beat last year by 2 pounds. I'm rather pleased with myself, in case you hadn't noticed! 8)
That is truly impressive! Our garlic harvest was down a bit this year--rain at the wrong time. I have enough for the coming year, but just enough! What variety do you plant? I've had fairly good luck with Creole and Polish Turban, but the best is the heads I pick up at the grocery store, separate into cloves, and plant!
I'm growing an Italian Red/Purple that I've been saving heads from for years. I always plant a 40' row spaced about 6". I'm really happy with the harvest this year. A spicy/hot bite to the deep garlic flavor.
I'm all for anything Italian! I may add that variety to our garlic bed this year. We plant in October, so I need to start planning our plot.
That's a result! I can especially appreciate your haul because mine did so poorly this year as I had to harvest them early. I especially like garlic and such a success as yours would make me over the moon.
