My friend has one for 50 years. He has about 10 of them. They are huge. They live in the ground for Summer and for Winter he just lays them on utility cart in the greenhouse. He has a desert greenhouse.

Yes Joe Caudex, I do believe you don't have a flower shoot but a maturing leaf stem. They don't flower like you think they do. I have some seeds and bulblets just planted. I will let you know when they come up. They will be very little and cute.
