Hello..I am in la porte Texas. I was just trying to identify a vine from backyard on internet. Came across this site. Thought maybe I could learn a lot here. I decorate bright bird houses and worked with marine and fresh water fish for a long time. But have no clue about gardening. And am looking forward to trying to grow and learn in this area. And hope my questions don't seem to silly but I really would like to grow something besides milkweed. Thanks sabrina

Well, welcome from a fellow Texas gardener! We are in central Texas, a bit different from LaPorte, but I'll help all I can.
We have a wonderful, knowledgeable member Cheryl who is from your area. Wait until you see photos of her gardens!
Milkweed ain't all bad--Monarch butterflies use it for a host plant (we even have a patch of pasture dedicated to milkweed and take part in the Monarch Monitoring project.)

Hi Sabrina, welcome to GardenStew from north central Texas. What kind of gardening are you interested in....herbs, veggies, flowers? We would love to see photos of where your future garden will be and progress photos along the way are a must. ;)

New gardeners are always afraid their questions are going to sound silly but remember that we were all once new gardeners and asked the same questions. So ask away and no one here is going to laugh. Every time a new or not so new gardener asks a question we all learn something as a result.

Hi Beenie... I'm up here by Liberty... just a hop, skip and jump away from you. My sis-in-law also posts here occasionally... she lives in Baytown.
This is a great site for learning, sharing and just visiting. Can't wait to see and hear about the things you want to grow.
