Please visit my garden. So maybe y'all can give me some ideas of what and where I can start. I am excited about trying my hand at gardening. I am looking forward to your ideas.
You have a great start already. Do you know you can add any or all of those pictures on your posts by clicking on the blue: Insert/Upload a Photo..... You will see it after clicking on reply to post. It takes you right to your garden pictures.. Try it....it's fun. So what are you doing with such a tall bird feeder pole? Is that what it is...?
You have a lovely garden to plan what to do with. I hope you'll keep us updated with the projects you undertake as we love to see what others do with their outdoor spaces.

Toni will probably know." I don't know ...they just recently started growing. And berries are starting to turn color. I would like to have herbs in a section of yard. And flowers its just so hot here and humid don't know what will be able to handle it.
Love it. Texas your like zone 9 or 10 right? You can do all the tropicals. I envy you. I'd have key west lime, clementine oranges, and then all the different colors of coleuses. Color all year round. Are you going to do a boarder around the edge of the lawn? How deep. What about that bottlebrush tree it will grow in your zone won't it. I'm so excited for you.
Beenie... you're probably in zone 9. There are alot of plants that will handle your hot humid conditions. I'd suggest looking for native plants. There's a couple nurseries in Houston that specialize in them... but you can find some in most garden centers. There's also a great place called Maas Nursery in Seabook (almost). They have a great selection of plants. I did an online search for Native Texas Zone 8 plants a couple of years ago and made myself a "wish list" from it. Whenever I see a plant on it, I grab it. And then you can add in some other more commonly found perennials and annuals and see how they do. I don't have a clue about growing herbs, but I'm sure some of the others will give you advice. Try posting some questions in the Herb Gardening Forum... more like-minded people may see it more than here. As far as where to start... how about making a round flower bed around that cute bird house pole? With a vine climbing on it? I have a bed that circles a light pole with a Passion Vine climbing on it and with an assortment of other plants thrown in. You can see it here: Pole bed ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) It's not very big because of the space constraints I had, but it looks like you have a lot of space to work with... so your's could be bigger, if you'd like. Or start small and expand it. We love to see works in progress, so whatever you do, keep your camera handy and let us see how it's going.
Well I have a lemon tree satsuma, and grapefruit and small lime ...they are great fruit bearers we give away lots of fruit because more than we can eat
