My sister gave me two mosaic pieces that were suppose to hang on a fence. I decided, with DH help, to make them into patio tables. One base is a cream can that came from DH great aunt and uncle's dairy farm and the other base was a plant stand that he modified. A cast iron Chinese lantern he made a hanging stand for and the 7 foot wide black spider. Generally I have the ideas and he does the work. :-D ( photo / image / picture from 2ofus's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from 2ofus's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from 2ofus's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from 2ofus's Garden )
Oh, yes! Cheryl, lookie lookie! It's wonderful when one has the ideas, and the other has the ability to bring them to fruition. (In other words, good for you and good for hubby!).
The hanging lantern is my favourite and I would love to have one just like it. The tables are so unique and useful and as for the spider ... well I hope I never meet a real one that size!!
I wouldn't call those beautiful tables junk! they are very practical and useful for things such as iced tea or a book... big enough for a plate of cookies and two cups of coffee for a friend and you... well done.
It was interesting looking at your collection items...but the one that I liked the best was the little black bear sitting off to the side of that melk can with a sign that says, "Wipe your paws". I had a chuckle, and thought that it was a nice thing to have there. Is it'ds location close to your front or back door?
The spider started with a trip to the dump where DH saw a pile of hay rakes and asked me what can we make with these? All I saw was spider legs. The body is the top of a pressure tank and the head is the headlight off of a 1930's Essex car donated by a friend. We have actually had people try to steal it! The Chinese lanterns (2) I nabbed at a yard sale and DH built the stands to hang them on. The tables evolved because we needed them. Sjoerd, the 'wipe your paws' bear was a gift and is beside the back door. I do enjoy showing my 'junk' off!
