    Hello All,

We just finished hosting the first week of our
Moderator's note: removed website link, see point 1.1 of usage rules, and would love to know which of these designs submitted is your favourite.

The only criteria was that they included a patio.

I like C a lot. Others are good too, but I think C is the garden where a person like me will be most happy - Perhaps because it has a pool in it, and the other 2 don't. However they are not bad either. Only I am often drawn to water.

By the way, your garden design concepts are better then others which I have seen elsewhere on the internet. So why not take your ideas to a newer level, by utilizing some 3D CAD!

For beginners I highly recommend Google SketchUp. As it's both fun and free, and not at all complicated to learn! Plus you get almost any type of 3D object/prop (like trees, plants, and furniture) from Google's 3D Warehouse.

    Thanks S-H!

I'll definitely have to check that out. Was not aware of Google SketchUp.

The pool with the zip line over top is our favourite feature in Design C.

I think each design would appeal to different people with different lifestyles.

I vote for number 1, mainly because I like curves in a garden and a variety of plants. Numbers 2 and 3 are all too regimented with all the same plants lined up in a row.

I agree with 2ofus but would have the pool in No.3 added to the No. 1 design. I like curves in a garden too but also love to have water.

I'm selfish. I want them both.

Yes please do check out Google SketchUp, not only is everything you'll need available for free - But there are 1000s of other video tutorials available on YouTube also. So you'll never get stuck!

Of course I myself use AutoCAD, mainly because I have to conform to certain engineering & industrial standards. Which is why the program is also very costly, and a bit challenging to use for new comers... That's why I suggested Google SketchUp, as I've seen 8 to 12 year old kids play with it too!

Reason for me saying this is that I seem to be the only CAD guy over here - So can't exactly bounce ideas off someone else... And at other 3D CAD forums over the internet too, hardly anyone who is both a CAD user as well as a horticulturist.

Thanks everyone! Design A was my favourite too, as I rather enjoy whimsical spaces.
