Well,my Surgeon was very pleased with my eye at the post-op check yesterday, thursday. For anyone interested, what I now have on my left eye is a Cryo-buckle. I have 3 lots of drops,4 times a day and while I can't yet hold my eye open and put them in my lovely husband is doing a wonderful job. This morning I can already open it a bit more but have double vision except for looking at something really close up.

I am under surgeon's orders to rest and refrain from housework :D not that I had planned to do much anyway ;) My biggest problem is what to do while I am unable to sew...

I'm glad the eye drops are beginning to work for you and I hope they continue to do so. I know it's going to be a tad boring for you until your vision clears completely but it may not be for too much longer. :fingerscrossed:
We tend to take our eyesight for granted until something goes wrong don't we? I'm just glad that the surgeon is so pleased with your progress. Being told not to do any housework has got to be a nice side effect and one I wish I could have said to me. ;)

As someone who doesn't do well doing 'nothing' I understand your feelings all too well! Wishing you a speedy recovery :)

you could always listen to audio books, I find that can help me, as I am visually impaired myself.

Happy to hear you are making a good recovery though :)

Ugh! I am glad you were able to catch it quick enough that it is correctable. My sisters FIL had to lay on his stomach for weeks years ago to correct his... sounds like technology has improved a bit since then. get well soon!

I'm glad that the surgery went well and hope the recovery is fast. Not doing housework sounds great to me but not if the alternative is doing nothing! Did your Doctor give you any idea how long it will be before you can resume your normal activities?

Please take care of yourself, and follow the doctor's orders (especially the "no housework" mandate. Can you get that extended indefinitely?). I sincerely hope your recovery is quick and complete. :setc_083:

Very glad to hear the surgery went well and recovery is coming along nicely.

As one who had that 'no housework' order for almost 3 months last year I highly recommend napping and audio books. Your body needs that nap time to help it recover quicker. I found a lot of TV shows that I had never heard of and were actually pretty good.

I think audiobooks are an excellent suggestion. Also I recommend searching for podcasts from your favourite fields of interest. Get well soon KM!

Eileen,I agree,we don't realise what we have until it could be snatched away.

    Thank you Netty.

Shawchert,I was going to check them out yesterday but sleep got in the way :-D I will be looking shortly.

Carolyn, I think I might have had to do that if Mr el Ashry had chosen to do the gas bubble repair.I am so glad he went for the external option.

Thank you 2ofus.I'm just going to take it day by day.I see him again in 2 weeks and by then I'm hoping to have a better idea about the future.

Thank you Jane, I will(and I have Mark to make sure I don't do anything stupid).I actually don't mind housework but just at the moment I'm quite glad to have the mandate :)

Thank you Toni.Napping is great and something I do very well already. Our day time tv is pretty awful but we have a wide selection of DVDs and w have a service from the BBC called i-player where they put the best of their classic output such as all the wonderful David Attenborough natural history programmes. At the moment my little i-pad mini is perfect for this.

Thank you Frank,I hadn't thought about podcasts-I'm not really a child of the 21st century but there must be plenty of stuff to keep me entertained.

Glad to hear that your operation was successful. Now comes the hard part--the convalescence. It sounds as though there is plenty to keep you occupied until things get back to normal.

Could you recall the reason for the detachment? Rubbing your eye or another action?

My best mate here had the same sort of op a couple of years ago and had an excellent result. It takes time as you know, but the end result is worth it.

It is very good to see you back on here.
I shall keep an eye out for update posts from you. ;)

Thank you Sjoerd. I am led to believe that it is all to do with me being short-sighted together with the changing shape of my eye balls as I get older.2 or 3 years ago I had 2 small tears laser-repaired in my right eye so presumably problems with the left were likely at some stage,as I now know

Day 4 after surgery and I can open my eye more easily and the double vision is diminishing until I get really tired, then I just lie down with my eyes closed in dim light...

Great news on your recovery. Rest I agree is what you need and it sounds like you are able to have someone help you out with things and get better. Take care...

    Thank you Sherry and KK.

Almost a week now and I'm finally starting to feel 'normal' ;) again and feel up to pottering in between rests. The double vision is much less but the muscles around the socket are very tired by bedtime.
