I'll be going to a Craft Fairs/Fall Festivals each weekend for a while trying to solicit vendors for the church's bazaar next August. I'm limiting myself to one item (okay maybe two) from each one. I was tickled with today's find. Spotted these from across the field. And once I talked with the artist and got a close look, I knew one was coming home with me. There were Santas, Elephants, scenery, etc. It took me awhile, but this is the one I decided on. Care to guess what its painted on? I was thinking feather too when I saw the first photograph. Maybe (after seeing that it is 24 inches long) I'll plump for bark instead. I agree with 2ofus that it would have come home with me as well no matter what material was used to paint it on.
I was going to say bark also but the ridge in the middle is making me doubt that. I'm stumped Cheryl! It's a very interesting item, good find
Eclectic is correct... that's that dried up part of an palm frond that, to me, looks like bark. As I neared her booth, I thought bark too. Here's the backside that gave it away. ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) Very clever and pretty use of a throwaway part of a plant I thought. Lots of folks were coming over and looking and oohing and aahing, but I had to go one step further and pay for one! Hope she sold more, they are quite unique.
