    Dutchman's Pipe

This plant must be a year now because I kept it in the greenhouse all last Winter. Everyone here told me i could keep it outside for the Winter but I didn't have the courage to do that nor will I this Winter. Just don't have the courage.

I was surprise to see it has 2 flowers on it going into the Winter season. They are not as large as I thought they would be. Maybe it's because the roots are still very young.

Either way I am soooo happy about the blooms. I really love this flower especially if it gets the size of a football.
    :p :-D

Gorgeous bloom. I say trust your instincts...and keep your plant safe. You don't want to have to say, "...if only I had...".

Beautiful bloom. Being a sub-tropical plant, it's only winter hardy from zones 8-11 so the greenhouse is the best place for it.
In a natural setting it's blooming season is late summer through early winter, it's right on time.

It's a beautiful flower. I don't blame you protecting it during the winter.

I'd be doing the same as you Barb and keeping it safe in the greenhouse. It really is a beautiful flower and so unusual.

I love it too, a real conversation piece and it will give bigger flowers as it matures.
Looking after during winter is a good idea, it is a tropical plant.

Gorgeous bloom and how lucky you are to have a green house to enjoy it in.

Sjoerd Thank you. I am very careful with my special plants.

Cherylad, Large???? I hope so. That's one thing I loved about it. That's why I bought it.

toni, chocolate, Thanks for adding to my confidence. I just knew it wouldn't live through my Winter.........

Sherry88 and eileen and 2ofus, This is when I really appreciate my greenhouse and my hubby for allowing it to be warm all Winter out there. My pays for the heat and hauls the fuel.....XOX being sent out to him.....
