This gull swims to the shore with a shell for lunch. The first thing though, is to open it. They usually fly quite high and drop them, this gull didn't go quite that high. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
I've watched gulls here dropping shells onto stones ground to break them open. Crows seem to have the same habit.
