This was on a client's counter when I arrived yesterday. Have you ever?? Maybe this kind of gourd is familiar to you. I, personally, have never seen one anything like it!! Fascinating!
Well, I nevvuh! That is the most unusual gourd that I have EVVUH seen. I can't really grow most gourd types here because of our short and moist season, but I am curious to know the name of that thing.
Well I never. What a cool gourd!! I'd do as Cheryl says and paint it up and put it into your garden. It's bound to keep the pests away. :-D
My seed catalog has them. Their's are called Polo and obviously a snake gourd. Certainly nothing I would be planting!
Trichosanthes cucumerina Ronni would you click on the above link and upload your photo to it's page in our Plant Data Base, I can fill in the information for it. Thanks
OK toni, done. I got some message about the image needing to be reviewed, but as far as I could tell, it uploaded just fine. Let me know if you want me to do anything else. And yes, it has to be the strangest gourd I've ever seen. When I first noticed it, as I was walking into the kitchen, for just a second I honestly thought there was a snake on the counter! I know nothing about gourds or how to preserve them, but I'm going to ask that client if I can have it when she's done with it, and then will you all help me figure out how to dry it etc?
