After two days in the mountains we headed to Florida. We have friends in Deland so we stayed on the beach in Daytona. Had beautiful sunrises every day. Ate tons of seafood and took a few side trips. The tree in the sunrise pictures was just outside our room. And made for great pic's in the morning, except for the last day there. I grabbed my camera as the sun began to rise and guess what! The tree was gone. It had been cut down while we were gone. Our beach. ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) The blobs you see in the sand are jelly fish. Those photos are lovely ... so warm and sunny! We've got rain/snow/wind here. The decorated car reminds me of one that I once saw in the parking lot at work ... it had things stuck to every inch of it's body. The license plate on yours made me laugh! Beautiful sunsets ... wish I was there.
It looks you had a great time and was able to eat some great (?) food. Did you try gator tail or worm ice cream? (gulp! pardon me, slight gag reflex) I'm glad you had a good time.
I love the sunsets and sunrises but what a pity the tree was chopped down as it was just the right setting for them. You certainly saw plenty of wildlife on your vacation and managed to get some lovely shots of everything. I wouldn't have been tempted to try the gator tail or the worm ice cream that's for sure. So pleased there was plenty of more normal food for you to enjoy. The cars licence plate made me smile too. I doubt if I doubt I would ever get so bored as to stick things all over our car - can you imagine trying to sell it with that lot on it? Many thanks for sharing your photographs with - I really enjoyed seeing them all. :-D
The scenery is beautiful. I think it's hard to take a bad pic in Florida. As for the Alligator, you should try Alligator Marsala. Boy is it goooood. Looks like you enjoyed yourself. I am eating my heart out at this point.... :-?
I quite liked these foto's, Donna. It looks like you made the most of your vacation. You had a little bit of everything on that trip, didn't you. A boat for taking a river trip. I LURVE river trips. Did you guys take a river trip in that thing? I didn't know that folks are alligator. Can you describe the flavour? What a great vacation you had. I really appreciate your pics and commentary. That was so nice. Thanks.
Sjoerd, Yes we did a lot in a weeks time. And yes that is the boat we took up the river. As for the gator food- no way was I going to try it. Sounds like Barb can tell you what it tastes like. Thanks for the compliments. And yes we did go to St. Augustine. My pic's are really bad so did not post.
I've only had gator fried and it's yummy. Trying to figure out how to describe the flavor of gator... kinda like chicken, but with a hint of "fishy" or "gamey".
