I was going up and down the step stool taking pictures in the kitchen ...I had just stepped down after taking a picture of a Blue Jay. I looked up and I was so shocked to see this Coopers Hawk right in front of me...I almost lost my balance when I tried to hurry and step back up on it to take his photo...what a beautiful bird. Here is the Blue Jay right before the Coopers Hawk came... Blue Jay... ( photo / image / picture from Sherry8's Garden ) Coopers Hawk ( photo / image / picture from Sherry8's Garden ) Coopers Hawk... Great photos! We have Cooper's, but never have gotten such a great picture of one. Did the bluejay faint?
A beautiful bird indeed. He looks as though he's posing just for you. What luck to have one visiting and being so close. I'm so glad you had your camera to hand.
Thank you Netty, marlingardener, waretrop and elileen. I think I might of been the one fainting if I see the Coopers hawk get one of my Blue Jays...I cater to the Blue Jays because I want them coming up close to the house...the hawk was maybe only 10 feet from my window. :-o
I'm glad this little guy didn't become the hawk's lunch Those eyes would strike fear into the toughest of creatures. The hawk is very beautiful though. Top class Sherry!
You take such fantastic pictures! The hawk looks so regal but I imagine the rest of your birds clear out quickly.
mart...you are so right about the hawk knowing where they feed. I see him once in a while in my neighbors pines just waiting for the right time to fly through. 2ofus...I think I have an ideal spot for taking photos...in the warmth of my kitchen. thank you. Frank...the hawk really checks things out closely watching for movement with those eyes. On the one where he was looking right at me, he made me uncomfortable. Years ago I had an Eagle fly down in my yard, I was just pulling into the garage in my car. He was magnificent and I was glad I didn't run into the side of the garage as I was watching him... Thank you
