Have a new Avatar for Christmas. Had a few images to choose from and thought our Provincial Bird would go in nicely.

Oh is that a Steller Jay???? I have seen them in books but never been in their native land to see one in real life.

    Another one of my favorites.

Your Christmas avatar would make the Grinch get in the spirit of the season. Lovely, as usual!

Yes it is a steller's jay, we have them on the deck everyday. I usually take a few with the wreath with the jay or a robin in it.

Yes, they are the same size as the blue jay and really noisey when annoyed.

I raised a Blue Jay from a few days old years ago and when I grabbed him to kiss him and snuggle him, he bit me on the lips....as to say, Don't do that again." I did it again and he bit me over and over. When he wanted to be fed he screamed and flew over my house and raised a ruckus. What a bird....

I'm sure the birds of the Small Bird Society, BC coastal chapter are preening their feathers tonight with a bifg smile on their beaks.

I love your new Christmas avatar. We have the Stellar Jay here in our area but I have only seen a few. They are beautiful birds.
