Oh is that a Steller Jay???? I have seen them in books but never been in their native land to see one in real life. Another one of my favorites.
Yes it is a steller's jay, we have them on the deck everyday. I usually take a few with the wreath with the jay or a robin in it. I raised a Blue Jay from a few days old years ago and when I grabbed him to kiss him and snuggle him, he bit me on the lips....as to say, Don't do that again." I did it again and he bit me over and over. When he wanted to be fed he screamed and flew over my house and raised a ruckus. What a bird....
I'm sure the birds of the Small Bird Society, BC coastal chapter are preening their feathers tonight with a bifg smile on their beaks. Jerry
I love your new Christmas avatar. We have the Stellar Jay here in our area but I have only seen a few. They are beautiful birds.
