This is Mark making chocolate truffles with Elena on Christmas Eve. I'm not sure who had the best time although Mark was pretty excited afterwards ( photo / image / picture from Kiasmum's Garden ) I think she enjoyed getting cocoa powder everywhere... ( photo / image / picture from Kiasmum's Garden ) My Mother-in-law has been through a lot since mid november and Mark wondered if I had anything suitable for her as a Christmas present. At the time I didn't but I did have a pattern that I wanted to try out. I dug into my stash of fabrics and made this 12inch Butterfly and turned it into an 18inch cushion. She loves it. Lovely, just lovely! You have such an artist's eye for color. No wonder your mother-in-law loves that pillow. That baby girl is adorable. Did you by any chance make her checkerboard apron?
Did I ever tell you that butterflies are one of my favourite things? I would have loved to own a cushion just like the one you made for your MIL. It's gorgeous. I just hope those chocolatey fingers didn't get near it.
Karin--What a beautiful present! I am sure she loved it. Elena is adorable, BTW. Glad she & your husband (that is your husband, isn't it?) enjoyed their project.
You know Kia--I just wonder time and times again about that talent of yours. It really IS remarkable.
Oh I love truffles or anything chocolate. That is a one of a kind special gift made with love and your own hands. Those are the best gifts ever.
Thank you all for your lovely comments :-D 2ofus, the reds are from the first bed-sized quilt I made for us and the blues are from a whimsical quilt I made for an exhibition a couple of years ago. I don't like to waste expensive fabric Jane, the apron is one thing that I did't make and is actually mine because her Daddy -who also happens to be called Mark, left the one I did make for her at home.At least it wasn't as huge as the first one she tried on Eileen, the cushion was safely at Mother in laws before the truffle making 8) Thank you Donna,Thank you Netty,I have a bit of catching up to do before the cataract that is now forming makes it difficult to see again.Sort of making hay while the dun shines... KK, thank you, Cayuga yes that is my husband.Elena is an absolute joy and I don't think we could love her any more even if she was actually related to us.We are soooo lucky to be allowed to be a part of her life and of her younger sibling Lydia and their cousin Reuben. Thank you Sjoerd. Tooty2shoes, the truffles were as well received as the cushion.I agree,home-made gifts are special. Just like a real Grandma I have a fridge covered in original art which are very special.
