After three days, 9 stitches, a black eye, cat scan, 4 x-rays, two types of echocardiograms, radiology injections with pictures and a stress test I am finally home :) My eye is a rainbow of several colors, none of which would be a choice color. It is adorned with a caterpillar looking length of black stitches, they come out Tuesday(the stitches). After overtaxing myself Snowblowing 30+ inches of snow covered driveway and dragging heavy trash containers up the cellar stairs (mistake #1) a pooped puppy sat down in a chair(mistake #2), I passed out. Falling out of the chair I hit a cellar post and floor <OUCH> I came too in a not great condition. At the hospital, my condition prompted an an orderly to ask how the other guy looked. Three days later, a happy wife took me to Home sweet home. A few thirsty house plants are getting watered and the hungry cardinals will get a fresh supply go sunflower seeds. Now to catch up with Gardenstew posts. :)

I'm glad we didn't get that snow. We had snow like that when we lived in Wisconsin but was young enough then to cope with it. You take care of yourself now and stay out of basements and hospitals. They are no good for you.

Oh dear Jerry! Glad to hear it wasn't anything more serious but I hope you get a lot of rest now to recuperate. It was a shock to see your post this morning.
I'm sure your wife, plants and birds are happy to have you home. Get well soon!

Wow! Take care. Glad you are home and on the mend. You need an old overstuffed chair like mine that holds you and is hard to get out of. It wouldn't let you fall even if you wanted to.

Oh my word Jerry, you have been through the wars.Take it easy and let your body rest.

I have a feeling that your wife will be keeping a very close eye on you for quite a while and that snow blowing might now be off the agenda!

That much snow needs a plow. I'd hire someone if it were me. It would hurt less then what you just went through. Hope your feeling better soon.

Glad to see your home and doing better. Any idea what caused you to pass out?

Oh my gosh Jerry! I sure am glad you are OK! 30 inches of snow is too much for one man to move!

Thank you everybody, I am taking it easy and will approach clearing Monday's pending deposit of snow with measured caution. I will be wearing a monitor for thirty days in an attempt to capture a repeat of the event that sent me to the hospital. All tests were negative and an explanation for the black out remains elusive.

Jerry, could the explanation for the blackout be sheer exhaustion? Our bodies have a funny way of telling us to slow down and take it easy for a bit.

I was overly tired after dragging the trash can and recyclables out of the cellar hence the sitting in the chair. My intention was to rest, not to collapse on the floor. :-(

With perhaps 12 inches of snow planning will be slightly different.....no trash. :) The snow will be light and fluffy as the temperatures for the storm period will be in the low teens and minus single numbers.

The bird feeder is very popular right now.

Glad to read you are okay.
I used to live in Billerica (Nutting Lake)
We got so tired of shoveling snow( do you remember the BlizzRd of 1978)
15 years ago tomorrow we packed up the Grand Marquis with the dog (105 lb rottie)3 cats , and all my plants and drove out of Massachusetts , with an ice storm hitting the back window of our car all the way to Virginia. Heading for spartanburg SC.
Never have looked back. We SOOOO enjoy the Upstate South Carolina winters more than New England winters. Not as pretty as freshly fallen snow but we have pictures!
A month of possible light snow here.the rest , garden tilling weather!
I am so glad to hear you are okay. Be CAREFUL! That snow is heart attack prime time!
