Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane snow is glistening.

That is not only a holiday song, it's a winter song and that's what I am doing this morning. It started with freezing rain and sleet yesterday evening about 7 p.m. (We almost always have a good layer of ice under snow) The Snow started about 11 p.m. and fell for the next 5+ hours....not real heavy at times but in waves that were sometimes light and sometimes very heavy. But the wind was blowing too so there are areas where it is almost 8 inches deep but after doing the 'finger stick' method of measuring I have come up with an average of 4-6 inches in my yard, front and back. Not supposed to get above freezing today but the sun is shining brightly, not sure how long the snow will hang around. snow14a.JPG snow12a.JPG snow11a.JPG snow8a.JPG snow4a.JPG snow3a.JPG snow2a.JPG snow1a.JPG

I didn't know Texas really got that much snow. I hope it goes away quickly for you. Actually I'm hoping the same for us. It started raining last night, all through the night and this morning gradually went to freezing rain and now back to snow for the past 3 or so hours. I'm not liking this at all! lol

Don't hope it goes away quickly on my account! I love the stuff, my hubby doesn't call me a snow flake for nothing.

We used to get snow on a more regular basis when I was a kid, but we lived a little further north of here then, still in Texas but just across the Red River from Oklahoma.
We had 6" on the ground the first weekend in March 1989, New Years eve 1977 was a really bad ice storm with 4 inches of snow on top, we had a fresh snowfall every Saturday in February 1978 for a total of 13.5 inches that month. But for the most part our Winters are sometimes cold but almost always lacking snow or sleet.

Doesn't happen very often, not even every Winter but once in a while I have 1 or 2 days where I can truly love the weather.....then summer hits and I can't enjoy anything.

I hope the snow stays around for you Toni. Maybe it will even snow some more and give you a deeper covering. I wish I could sent ours to you as I know just how much you'd appreciate it.

I wish, but the sky is clear as a bell today and the sun is doing a very good job of making my lovely snow nothing more than a fond memory.

We still have about 3 inches left on the north side of our house but, where it is sunny, it's slowly melting away. I wished we could get some of the excess snow the eastern states is getting...but not all of it!

I'm so happy for you Toni, as I know you always want some snow o_O
I don't want anymore... we had a sneaky inch on Tuesday night, but its all gone now. I am thrilled with out forecast which calls for temps in the 60s next week!!! I feel for all the folks that have been dumped on continually this winter.
    Mother Nature: That's enough!!

So happy you got a good amount of snow Toni.
I'm also happy we didn't have to deal with any freezing rain down here.... yet.

I've been hearing sleigh bells since early Nov. off and on. Since New Years, we have had snow on the ground almost ever since New Years. We have had fewer total inches than last year, 21 inches compared to 51 a year ago. But we have gotten snow about every 2 to 3 days for 2 1/2 months. But that is soon to be over, they say 60 deg F by a week from today! Almost time to get the shorts out ! :)
