My spirea has always bloomed first, then my forsythia and later my Star Magnolia. Well this year they came on all at once.
Netty, I really don't know, It was here when we moved in 25 years ago. It always puts on a show early spring. I probably should trim it but am afraid I'd spoil a good thing.
Wow. How gorgeous!! That Star Magnolia is particularly stunning. Will it grow where I am in Tennessee, Donna?
Ronni, I would think it would, but I'm not sure. Check at a local nursery. They are very slow growing and easy to manage.
Ronni, according to my Botanica, Star Magnolia lives in zones 5 through 9. There are also pink cultivars of it, so if you want white, make sure it is the original white one. "Waterlily" is listed as the most prolific bloomer, with slightly larger flowers. "Rosea" is one of the pink cultivars.
Those are really pretty shrubs. I'm surprised also that they are all blooming at the same time. Guess the weather has them confused.
OO gorgeous!! My forsythia is only just beginning to flower but my magnolia blooms are still at their tight fuzzy stage. What a lovely trio your shrubs are Donna.
Nice of them to all bloom at once for you. The Spireas are in full bloom around here too. Love the Forsynthia! Wish I had the room for both.... but I gotta stay away from too many more shrubs.
