Sjoerd, I remain jealous of your garden progress, but I will soon be happy for you, just as soon as I begin planting in earnest.
I ordered seeds yesterday from Seed Savers. They sell Heirloom seeds. They save seeds from long ago.
Today, I bought onion sets for Red onions. Also lettuce seeds and Nasturtium seeds. I like growing Nasturtiums because they're not only beautiful, but very tasty as well.
I wish each of you Happy Gardening !

Sjoerd, I meant to ask, is Ground Elder like a weed that spreads? Perhaps something like our Bindweed?

I made a succulent wreath, actually a sempervivum wreath. Still have tons of semps to plant.

I managed to finally get my Hydrangea's pruned, and I also planted some tomatoes - indoors of course. After last nights torrential rain it could be awhile before it is dry enough to do anything else!

I'm planting my semps that a friend gave me. She gave me a ton of them.

Although it was a little muddy, I transplanted some perennials today. Been raining all week.

You can also use cardboard. It breaks down to mulch itself, but takes its time doing it. I like that it holds weeds back for some time but is basically organic.

You may have seen my post elsewhere where I was reminding someone not to put mulch hard up against trunks of trees, though I guess most gardeners already know that.

Ms. Kitty, just what are semps?

Today I only buried some peelings, etc. The earth is a bit wet for digging much.

Semps is short for sempervivum. They are also known as hens and chicks.

Ms Kitty, that I'm familiar with.

Today I have done nothing in the garden.
I did buy the seed potatoes for planting
soon. I cut them apart and left them to
    scab over.

Inside I planted a flat of tomato seeds. Outside I walked through 2 1/2 to 3 feet of snow that covers my garden areas. Just hoping that the ground is dry enough to plough by the first week of June.:worried:

It dried out just enough to till the vegetable garden today! Big cleanout first, then tilled and planted peas, spinach and onions. It'll be a couple more weeks before the potatoes go in here. Nice to get it started though! I had what I called my hosta farm back there, and we divided and transplanted all of them so I could expand the vegetable garden to use all the available space. Must have been at least a couple dozen transplants.

Just the opposite here it started raining before daylight and only now quit. I did walk out in it and check on our loquat plums by the time the yard dries in a couple days it will be plum picking time.:setc_029:
