My garden is full of them as well. You and I have many of the same ones. They are so gorgeous. The bees here chew a little hole in the back of the flowers to get nectar out of so they don't have to climb up into the flowers. hahaha.
You have so many gorgeous colors and varieties, bet that bed is a wonder to look at when they are all in bloom. I tried for a few years to have them in my shade bed but they just don't like dry and hot. But I got two starts from Cheryl a couple of years ago of Aquilegia chrysantha hinckleyana and it is doing great this year, it's been blooming and filling out.
Thank you Eileen,Sjoerd, toni and Netty...we have had some cold windy rainy weather and quite a few of my plants have been broken and have fallen down on the ground. When it warms up I will try and see what is left of them.
Those are gorgeous! I love Columbines, but they don't seem to like it here (or I haven't found the right spot for them). They do fine one year and don't come back or reseed. Glad to hear your's are doing well Toni!
Lovely columbines Sherry. You are right, they are so delicate looking, yet are 'sturdy' in their own way. If thy like your place they will keep cropping up in various places, various colors as they self-sow. I particularly like the yellow.
Such beauties! Both my BF's garden & mine are full of them. Last year I sowed Alchemist mix, so with a bit of luck next year his garden will have lots of different coloured columbines in bloom. Not sure if these will grow in my new garden, but Toni's remark gives me hope. I guess it's just a matter of finding the right one for the right spot
Thank you cherylad, Cayuga Morning, gardenelf and stratsmom. We got some pretty strong winds here and it did knock some of them over. They are ending now but I will leave them so the hummingbird can enjoy them a bit longer.
