We must have planted them at the right time or something. We did use enviromesh on a frame. If you noticed the gap in the middle of the row, our little dog loves broccoli and she was trying to get a leaf and tugged so hard she broke the entire plant off at the base.
Your broccoli plants look very healthy. My hubby just started eat broccoli, but raw not cooked and I like it cooked so next Spring I will have to try my hand at growing some for us. That is some awesome looking broccoli! I gave up trying to grow it here as it never does very well and always gets covered with worms. I think that enviromesh is the answer, and would work well to keep flea beetles off too.
I'm impressed. Your broccoli looks great and I would be as proud as Punch if I could grow some that looked like yours.

I was so glad when Sjoerd mentioned it. We used a thin row cover last year and before the broccoli was done I was using clothes pins to hold the holes closed so we wouldn't get any worms. Mike came up with the pvc pipe frame. We will store them in the greenhouse during the winter.
That is just superb. The enviromesh cages are perfect and pretty much a guarantee for success. I am so proud that you are pleased with this solution. Chapeau to you for that harvest of the fine-looking calabrese. Gad--I can almost taste it!
Wow! beautiful broccoli! Yes I think the mesh did wonders. I had a few plants but none produced anything big enough to eat plus the leaves got eaten by lots of bugs. Don't know if I would plant them again. Congrats on your harvest.
