We missed our small Cairn terrier (Scooter) so much and our home was so quiet without him (he was a character and so much fun to be around..) we went out and found another dog, a Chihuahua named Isabella. We call her Izzy for short. It has perked our 12 year old lab up..... My husband is taking her to obedience class and to socialize her because she was in the dog shelter for over a month and our lab follows right behind them doing the things he asks the puppy to do. Of course a treat is involved so that could play a big part too. She loves people and loves to sit on your lap and when a human lap is not available she lays right with our yellow lab, Miss Shadow....Shadow seems to enjoy the company once again too. Izzy is 9 months old now, we have had her for 2 weeks now and she is doing great. She has found her forever home.
Those are adorable foto's, Sherry. Good luck with that young puppy. Those two are already getting along well aren't they.
That's uplifting news Sherry She will be such great company for Miss Shadow. Thanks for letting us meet her.
Congratulations on finding Isabella. Miss Shadow looks so content now that she has another little companion. I love both photographs of Izzy and Shadow together and I hope to see many more.
That sure is a cute couple. Imagine, if we miss a lost 4 legged loved one, how much all the other 4 legged friends handle the loss. Without our level of understanding it must be extremely hard for them. We just don't ever put the shoe n the other foot. I am glad you all found another friend for all the members of your home.
That picture would be perfect for a Christmas card! It's great that Shadow has another friend and that Izzy has a forever home.
Awww, they're so cute together. I'm so happy that you found Izzy and that she gets along so well with Miss Shadow.
Thank you everyone... They are still enjoying one another's company....now to get Izzy (Isabella) to understand that CATS rule at our house so the cat can quit chasing her. The cat is larger than Izzy so I think she will win.... 2of us...I did end up making a Christmas card with a couple pictures of both dogs and a picture of my cat. I bought a new printer a while back and I love it. It prints out great pictures and they give you ideas on things to make. Ronni....I never knew that Chihuahuas were such great little companion dogs...she is such an affectionate little thing and has my husband hooked on her...me too of course. She passed obedience class and is going onto what they call Obedience Rally ....
They are the most amazing companion dogs....they are happiest when they're with you..usually as close to you as they can get! Mine are so content when they're on my lap, or snuggling with me on the couch. Good job on the obedience classes! Some small dog owners allow their dogs to get away things that they wouldn't for a second allow a big dog to get away with!! I'm so glad that you're training Izzy and relating to her as a dog, first!
Here she is on Christmas Day...we celebrate with our family on Christmas eve and had a house full and that kept Izzy busy going from lap to lap...
